The Importance of Liability Coverage & Underinsurance

Trucking company involved in I-70 crash only carries $750,000 of liability insurance

This news article shows why it is so very important that you have more than the legal minimum amount of car insurance when you drive! When tragedy strikes, in a vehicular accident, there are so many instances where innocent people are killed or very seriously injured, and yet there is not enough insurance to even cover the medical and funeral bills. In Missouri and Kansas the minimum amount of liability coverage is $25,000.00. In this day and age, with the cost of emergency room medical care, it is easy to have an ER bill over $10,000.00.

Underinsurance is critical for every driver of a car, wherever you are driving. If you are in an accident that was caused by someone else’s negligence, you are entitled to recover from the other driver’s liability insurance. If your medical bills and other damages are very large, and the other driver does not have enough liability coverage to fully compensate you, you have an Underinsurance claim against your own insurance company for the rest of your damages.

Review your car insurance policy TODAY to make sure you have plenty of Underinsurance. I recommend at least $100,000.00 coverage; if your automobile policy does not include underinsurance coverage, you need to get a new insurance agent because every driver needs underinsurance coverage!

I have spent nearly 40 years closely reviewing insurance policies and insurance claims to make sure my clients receive every dime they deserve! If you are injured, don’t sell your claim to the insurance company for pennies on the dollar. You need an experienced legal warrior to be your voice for justice: “Better call Paul!”
